kind of, but not really. are you new to cryptocurrency in general?
buying an asset (crypto token) adds market pressure for the price of the asset to go up, but you're not just giving them money like you would with a car or something
also I'm assuming whatever you buy will be a drop in the bucket and the value will go up whether you're in it or not. use that to justify it however you like.

install the metamask browser extension, that will be your easiest way to get an ethereum wallet.
buy ETH directly on metamask or through coinbase or any of the other fiat-crypto exchanges (you'll need to then send it to metamask if you do the latter).
you can trade ETH for ID on uniswap (see link in OP)
keep in mind transaction fees are pretty high right now because of all the bull-market traffic, you'll probably want to throw in at least a few hundred USD for it to be worth it.
