I think a lot of shilled coins here are pure hype and not interesting from a technical point of view

I've been following Bitcoin since 2011 (made my first serious investment in bitcoins in 2013) and haven't been interested in any alt (including Ethereum), except Monero and Decred

But more and more I'm looking at Decred, it's comically undervalued, position 43 on CMC, and I think it's a top 5 coin

>the only altcoin that has respect of old skool bitcoiners who are otherwise altcoin skeptics and call most alts scams, including Ethereum, like Chris DeRose, Fluffypony, Amir Taaki, many fans of it such as charlie Lee and Jimmy Song of Bitcoin

>its roots go back to 2013 when an anonymous person called tacotime (SAME GUY WHO WAS BEHIND CREATION OF MONERO) posted his new idea for a hybrid PoW/PoS system called MC2 - which later became Decred

>programmers are ex-Bitcoin programmers who made the best reimplementation of Bitcoin in Go --- btcd WHICH IS NOW USED BY LIGHTNING LABS to make Lightning Network software

>is similar to Bitcoin but has a function where people owning coins can vote on important issues (more coins you have, more skin in the game, more voting power; stakeholder governance)

>coming soon: LN, revolutionary new approach to Privacy/Fungibility, decentralized allocation of dev funds, alternative to ICOs called DAE (much better)

>went from $0.40 (40 cents) to $120 in 2017

>soon to explode hard, according to TA

The only reason this is not higher is the programmers are super anal about code and perfectionists, so the development was not hasty

They are not big into marketing and just purely focusing on re-making Bitcoin. It's "Bitcoin done right"

Being in Decred now is equal to being in Bitcoin early in 2011 when I started

Do your own research ofc... it's not just an appcoin adding some shitty feature that nobody needs --- it is a complete redoing of Bitcoin with proper governance

Stakeholders have power, balancing power of miners and programmers.

>Only project with functional on-chain governance. Did the first ever on-chain user activated hard fork.

>Fantastic devs. Ours include the developers of btcsuite, & also the author of the atomic swap code used by btc and ltc recently.

>Unique hybrid PoS/PoW system that is extremely resilient to attacks. Making a 51% attack extremely difficult & a minority hard fork nearly impossible for example.

>Direct PoS. No masternodes or DPoS where you will inevitably run into issues like the "Lisk elite"

>The project is relatively young, at almost 2 years since launch. So it's still getting in early.

>Great, active community, that is distributed pretty evenly around the world.

>Big war chest in the community treasury (something like $30-40 million currently).

>Support from many influential community members including Charlie Lee & Jimmy Song.

>At least 2 competing ASICs coming out next year... should be an indicator of where some see this project going.

>Also, initial distribution. Decred had one of the fairest distributions in crypto. Decred founders started with 4% of total supply (which they paid for w/ cash into the community fund) and airdropped another 4% to crypto community members. The PoS % of new DCR is purposefilly set low so the relative power of holders decreases, not increases, over time.
>Compare to today where it seems like 90% of projects are totally premined with the founders starting with the majority or all of the tokens that will ever exist.

The Sleeping Dragon? Thought on Decred?

Seems like it should be way higher than it is.

It's only 44th place on CMC, but by its tech it should be in the top 10. What does /biz/ think, is it worth hodling?

DCR... So basically DCR is Bitcoin+voting... people can vote on future proposals with their coins. More coins, bigger vote (which makes sense; otherwise: Sybil attacks)

The success of this thing is basically tied to the political problems with Bitcoin... so if Bitcoin will keep forking and forking... maybe DCR's value will increase... or not?

What's your thoughts on this shitcoin?

It does have great devs but will it be interesting to people?

Decred's devs created btcsuite before creating Decred

Their reputation is impeccable.
