Pretty much what >>16029482 said. AMD is part of the reason why TSMC had record revenue this quarter and also the reason why Intel suddenly sold 10% less desktop CPUs - shortage my ass. The monthly chart of mindfactory.de is a good indication what is currently going on in the CPU market right now.

GPU sales are a mystery box, but a comment from Powercolor, a third-party GPU manufacturer, seems pretty positive.

The most important part are the server chips, though, as there's the most money in it. AMD released ROME in August, which assrapes Intel in energy efficiency, perfomance and price (400+% performance/$). There's quite a bit of news how AMD is fishing for alot of contracts everywhere, from big players like Google or various super computers.

Things also look pretty good on the server side, but my concern is the low availability of 3900X chips and postposting Threadripper 3000 and the 3950X to November. As these chips require the better chiplets (as do the server chips, which get the best chiplets), this could mean that either
a) yields are low in terms of high end chiplets,
b) AMD is absolutely killing with ROME, so they can hardly keep up with sky-high demand (thus prioritizing the higher margin server chips) or
c) a combination of the above.

We'll see on Tuesday.

Well, Intel's earnings report showed they sold 10% less CPUs on the deskop market, so Ryzen might do it's job, even if Intel blames their availability issues.

> INTC beat earnings, up over 7% now

Oh boy, looking forward to AMD's report on next Tuesday, considering they're currently fucking killing it with Ryzen 3000 and ROME.
