In the roman empire emperor Diocletian tried to set price and wage controls. Even under the penalty of death, the Roman people still traded in black (free) markets.

Tell me how successful the US war on drugs were. Do you really think that the US can stop people from accessing food? If the currency expands massively and alot of it is chasing food, and due to socialist policy production is reduced then more money will be chasing less food. Even if the government sets price controls and rations it will not stop the free market.
