You could do okay. You could end up being in for 20 years and having no skills applicable to the real world and then you're one of those 45 year old guys who decides to use his GI bill to finally get a degree in architecture or whatever. Used to see them around campus.

The real truth is that people on 4chan want a 'one size to success' life but most of it is about acquiring skills (including bullshitting/people skills) and then getting really lucky when that acquaintance you met a few years ago asks you if you're looking for work and need a job or some shit like that.

The people who are "senior software engineer 25 years old oakland poor" or whatever are probably really connected (or lying lol). It's why people who are exceedingly lucky but then act like they just did 'what everyone else is doing' and can't understand why everyone else isn't a SSE or whatever and chalk it up to 'people being lazy' when most people just end up existing in the 'tried but got boxed out due to some unluck and work as a bank teller' rather than the dog walking tranny philosophy major department.
