XMR is not some manipulated scam that has these huge pumps and dumps so as long as you DCA, it's not going to make a big difference. There are some mini-pumps that seem to come with hackers cashing out cleaning BTC through XMR. The community has gotten used to this and seem to swing trade these mini-pumps.
Besides that it's a long term hold. XMR will probably have monopoly of the DNMs in ~5 years time. Right WH does 60% of volume in XMR and 40% done in BTC through 3rd party which becomes exchanged for XMR. There is usually 1 dominant market and the longer WH hangs around the more people are going to become evangelized to XMR and using it. This might seem like a small use case but considering the hundreds of millions that were seized in Silk Road, Alpha Bay, etc it's actually more money than the meme hyped scam use cases in all the fake "enterprise use case" crypto projects. When XMR becomes the defacto standard for illegal purchases, then people will start appreciating what this means for the privacy and protection of normies with countless use cases.
Performance wise, XMR is going to be outpefromed by a lot of projects over the next several years but most will pump and dump and most of you geniuses will get burned. XMR is long term slow and steady returns. Also XMR fared deceptively better in the bear market compared to other projects although it appears to have fallen down markecap rankings. Most of these coins lost much more but appear to have gone up in rankings because their circulating supply increased a lot more compared to XMR. If you're in crypto, it doesn't make sense not to own an unknown amount of XMR.

I mean there were a lot of fake privacy coins making claims like Dash, Verge, etc. And centralized so comprised model of Zcash. But now it seems to be pretty much established that Monero is the defacto privacy coin and the other's prices are completely cratering not to mention they've never had adoption

Dark markets have been decimated in the last couple of years. Even so, it was like 97% BTC. Monerjuo wallet has a xmr.to service which allows you to convert XMR to BTC when you transact so a lot of people were actually using XMR instead of mixing BTC which takes time, costs money and you are taking risk. In addition to transactions, I think the bigger use case is a crypto Swiss Bank account of sorts to hide your money.

I think at the very least Monero ends up getting banned in exchanges at some point. This might make it take a huge hit in price but eventually it'll only add to it's legitimacy.

I think a lot of Monero adoption will come down to how much people will interact with crypto directly. The general consensus is that crypto is too technical for the normie. But things change in a generation. I am an old fag and I remember teaching people to point and click to open up Windows and browser the internet, upload pictures, etc. It was painful. I also travelled to 3rd world countries where my dad said they'll never use cell phones because they don't have the infrastructure and people are too stupid. Now poor kids all over the world are running smartphones or poor fags are eliminating the middleman in poor countries just using cellphones. Even if mainstream adoption doesn't come, all it takes is a small percentage of technically literate people to realize the value of a digital Swiss bank account -- and I think that will happen.

Bitcoin, Ethereum, Monero are the Holy Trinity of Crypto. All you need. A lot of these shitcoins that top Monero in marketcap come and go. Ignore them.

Fucking sucks that Dream Market removed XMR after that bug happened last year. Not sure if Dream is compromised but I don't touch it anymore anyway

I love how DASH and ZCASH claim they are privacy coins but not used anywhere for anything.

ETH with strong privacy features is probably the only threat to XMR. I am also heavily invested in ETH.

But ETH achieving scalability at the levels Vitalik is talking about AND achieving strong levels of privacy is like finding the Holy fucking Grail and a 100 horny virgins.

If and when crypto becomes big, privacy should be huge for a ton of use cases. They might even ban Monero. But it won't matter. A decentralized Swiss Bank account will be needed. Monero fulfills that need better than anything else. And tokenomics will mean that Monero inflation will be only tail emission at the time so it'll likely also hold value better than any other privacy coins.

If crypto takes off governments and tax authorities will want an account of how much you hold reported. It's already happening. Canadian tax authorities already want you to list all your crypto addresses, how much you hold, where you bought them, who gave them to you, if you mined them, etc.

https://imgur.com/DA8ksbp

You really want Monero as your New World Swiss Bank account. Outside the realm of knowledge and control of governments. Get sued getting a divorce, on NEET welfare benefits, etc, they won't know how much assets you have.

Exactly 1 Year Ago:

> ZCash - $230
> Monero - $49

Today:

> ZCash - $158
> Monero - $93

Also enjoy the fact that ZCash still is going to inflate 4 X times it's current supply and keep being a shitty investment while Monero only has a couple of million left in supply to mine before tail emission. The fucking inflation, rewards to the founders, dev etc, almost ensures ZCash will keep losing value unless there is a major bull market like 2017.

ZCash has been a shitty investment despite being pushed Silbert into exchanges and into the Grayscale Investment Trust ETP, etc. If you want to keep being stupid and keep losing money, keep buying ZCash.

Monero is actually accepted in a lot of DNMs whereas nobody uses ZCash.

> Sexiest and most useful crypto out there.

> Swiss Bank Account of Crypto

> Nice mobile wallet automatic swap for Bitcoin payments when needed

I wish I'd bought thousands. Used to own hundreds at one point. Slowly accumulating back.

Prices exactly a year ago and 1-year returns

> Bitcoin 2763 = 171%
> Eth 226 = 106%
> xrp .20 = 125%
> LTC 45 = 84%
> Dash 192 = 31%
> Zcash 218 = -10%
> XMR 43 = 202%

>>10372197

Saying utter garbage like ZenCash which has rewards that go to the foundation, a founders reward, has had a 51% attack and has only minted 4 million out of the 21 million supply thus has a future of massive inflation is better investment than Monero is fucking retarded.
