Though I just realized that my nice, alpine easter creek is glacial fed, so my plans to go into the deep end in summer when its warm enough for it won't work. The warmer it is, the more water it will have. Maybe I can go back next month, that should still be cold enough on the glacier, or maybe early summer mornings.

Nice dubs, but no. But if I encounter something nice, I'll take it. If pic related were bigger, it probably would be worth something. But sadly, all large garnet bearing rocks around me only have the undesirable black/brown variants (no racist pun intended).
Maybe I should look for emerald, but while garnets tend to end up in the pan, those are too light, so I'd have to go full Strahler-mode.

Meh.
Guess for 6 zero effort pans, that is technically not too bad, but financially… lol. But on the other hand, not a bad way to spend lunch break.
