Assume you have $10k. You have 2 choices.
- 100 EGG at $100 per. If EGG goes to $110, you make $1000.
- 50 EGG/BNB at $100 per and yield farm instead. If EGG goes to $110 you make $500 off your EGG but potentially 0 on BNB.
By yield farming, you're essentially betting on being able to print enough EGG to cover the difference between the EGG and BNB gain before the price actually hits $110, in order to be more in profit than just nesting 100 EGG.
This is literally impossible, even with the insane APY on the farms. BNB can't cover the difference even if it's mooning, because the mcap for it is too high. The price of EGG needs to be mega crabbed or well over $200 to lower the delta before it's even worth trying.
Think of it like going short, except instead of betting that price will drop, you're betting that price will crab. Does EGG seem more likely to move or crab right now? That's why the EGG pair APYs are astronomical, in some sense they're your betting odds of EGG crabbing, otherwise they're compensatory.

tl;dr Nesting is what everyone should be doing right now. Farming is just a consolation prize for swingies who tried to cash out the top and missed.
