without that 40 year bull market in bonds the whole pyramid scheme collapses. dollars are produced through debt which requires more debt for the dollars to pay off previous debt. allow this cycle to continue without fully unwinding bad debt and eventually you'll find the entire economy is built on one bubble of imaginary future growth strangling the real potential for future growth to stabilize debt creation and the ending of debt cycles. it's a pretty big deal.
tl;dr we're crushed by debt that requires more debt at a lower rate
