to people who already know what the blockchain is, i explain it even simpler:
1- first came the currency (held by the diety that is the blockchain) BITCOIN
2- then came the smart cotracts (ETH), but those contracts cannot access other blockchains or retrieve data from the internet
3- then came the oracle, the messenger, that retrieves the data or sends the data to the outside world in the name of the smart contract.
4- you either use a centralized oracle provider, and then you'd have to trust that company to not fuck with your data, and to be available all the time, and to never be hacked....or you just use a decentralized network of nodes, trustless, non hackable (sybil is fucked by the reputation system), temperproof, that can provide decentralized computation (chainlink)
