I am not really into many things involving stocks and shit. I have always had good saving habits and a friend was telling me that I should work on maybe investing a little bit. He told me that sitting on a bunch of money is actually kind of wasteful because money loses value just sitting. I did experiment with investing like 1,000 USD using robin hood like a year or so ago and now the amount of money invested is 1,500 USD. I didn't add more beyond that 1,000. I just wanted to experiment and see how money fluctuates. I also am enrolled in a company stock purchase program.

Anyway, when it comes to stock market shit, one thing I never understood is what is actually doing for my overall wealth? So my robinhood account has 1,500 USD invested. What now? Thats what confuses me. That money is currently invested so are the benefits the dividends? Do people typically sell when a stock is high and then reinvest into other stocks? Money has always confused me a bit but I am glad I have always been good with saving money. Just weird to "invest" it because I don't understand how it helps.
