Chart first. If it's in a long term down trend I'm not interested unless there is a very good reason to believe it may reverse. Second, positive or negative average EPS over the past couple years? What is their track record on missing or beating earnings (use tradingview charts for this and just click on the 'E' circles to quickly check)? What is the P/E ratio in relation to similar companies in the same sector? Are there more bullish companies trading in this sector or is this the best one? If there an ETF for the sector and how does it perform in comparison to the company I am interested in? Is the ETF a better choice? etc. You can deep dive on financials if you like; how much debt, burn rate, how much cash, is the moat reasonable or are they running on razor thin margin? How little or much of this you bother to do depends on how long you intend to hold the trade.
