I favor the shareflation hypothesis, that the government is not just turning a blind eye, they're actively asking for him to keep printing synthetics to keep asset prices from going parabolic and starting hyperinflation. If that's true then he effectively has a letter of marque for stock piracy and all his crimes will be ignored so long as stock prices don't moon.
