Shame to see an interesting thread get derailed like this.

I've worked in security a few years now, mainly events and private parties but I've done some personal security gigs too.
There's no law that forbids you to pay someone to accompany you for whatever.
Self defence is limited to least amount of force possible to protect your health and the people with you(northern yurop law at least).

I'd consider listing my services on an app discussed in this thread.
