Launch the parts up piece by piece and construct giant tin can there.
Then use pic related to shuttle people to it. And fly to Mars in giant tin can space ship with smaller crafted docked onto the sides of it to shuttle people down to Mars.

The way he's trying to do it doesn't make much sense and it's sad everytime it blows up.
