btc as a currency is absolutely useless by now
it was intended as a fast, cheap and anonymous way to send money
it is no longer fast as confirmations can take up to multiple hours
its no longer cheap due to the increased difficulty and shortage of miners (e.g. i send around 13 btc from a online to a offline wallet recently and paid a whopping 0.5 btc for this, thats over 5k)
its no longer anonymous as every transaction can be backtracked to its origin, unless you are willing to hop through multiple exchanges which is a pain in the ass and damn expensive
the only thing driving the price by now is the demand exceeding the supply which is indeed nothing but text-book greed
