If this anon is still here, I believe this how many people use the Volume Profile (and, to an extent, the Market Profile) to help determine how to position themselves.

The Value Area on a Volume Profile is where the highest percentage of trading has taken place (usually something like 70%).

Points of Control (those red lines) are prices which most of the trading has taken place, in a given Session. They can act as Support/Resistance.
