Only valid point, China's influence in Africa and the general hostility and distrust Africans have against the west is the single biggest, long-term leverage that China has. But then again, if the worst does come, the west would focus even more so on Africa creating competition and taking some of the market from the Chinese. Economically, they're doing really good. But that's what happens when literally every aspect of society and economy is controlled by the Govt. They can optimise their shit to the max, ignoring short-term losses and delays in some sectors to boost the general economy.
Militarily, however, they've still got a ways to go. They are very strong, and improving by the day, but still don't spend nearly as much as the US on defence, let alone the numbers and strength of their allies.
