The CME gap myth was created, back in the day of Monday-Friday trading, by heavy after-hours buy/sells getting officially recorded at the opening second of market open, creating a "gap" on the chart. If they were caused by a spike in trading, those tended to average out, and the price would float back down/up, "filling" the "gap". Or, like literally everything else that's traded, the price moves, and eventually it would reach a value inside the "gap" and retards would clap like seals and yell about how the "gap" was "filled" now, akin to how if you roll a die until you get a 6 you can yell about how the 6 gap was filled.

It wasn't voodoo chart magic, it was just because the fucking market was closed for part of the day and after-hours trades got recorded as one big bunch of transactions at market open.
