>I'm going to be pissed if I lose money and pissed if I miss out on gaining it.
You have run in to one of the important lessons for trading. Or, a part of the larger lesson anyway. There are two spurious assumptions new traders tend to make:
1. Opportunities for gains are rare (false)
2. It's too late for everything and I would be buying the top of everything (false)

Important take aways here are there are always good entry points available on the stock market somewhere, you will never capture the entire upward swing of any stock ever (unless it's a total fluke), buying parabolic stocks during the parabolic is extremely high risk and relatively low reward. Nobody knows whether or not something like Tilray, Tesla, SPCE, or whatever is going to go crazy bullish. Tesla was a choppy mess until this latest bullish sentiment shift. You just buy stuff that looks good, fundamental wise and/or chart wise, see what happens. Rinse and repeat. Don't be too concerned about gauging the potential upside of any particular stock. Just look for good reasonable risk entries.
