I think beans and rice are even cheaper than the ramen meals that college students think they need to eat if they want a cheap food. Quality is higher too as it's not processed and no other ingredients are added except for the ones you add yourself.

Ever heard of minimalism? Literally how minimal can you be after just beans and rice. It's just two ingredients.
