that wallet looks on par with the usability of a standard bitcoin wallet so i dont see why normies would prefer orange over orange.

the video doesn't show setting up the lightning channel either. lightning network is still super small and used by almost nobody. routing still doesn't scale without centralized backbone hubs (though admittedly normies usually doesn't care about the ideology side)

that site is the first actual usage of lightning network ive ever seen, a good idea. satoshi is probably turning in his grave from the name though

there are crypto investors and crypto users. for users it's pretty clear which bitcoin has the most usefulness.

i understand that the investor people want to protect their investment but in the end it's the crypto users that give bitcoin its value. the only reason bitcoin ever took off was because it started to be used to buy things, it'll only survive on speculation for so long.

All of the developers that wanted bigger blocks have abandoned BTC for BCH. I don't see anything happening on BTC, no excitement, no future plans, nothing at all to discuss. Just hopes for Lightning Network to actually work one day. Even if they backtrack now and actually increase the max blocks I doubt any talent will forget the past and come back.

Bitcoin Gold hashrate:
24954301
Bitcoin Cash hashrate:
4065177780055339520
Legacy Bitcoin hashrate:
35373998549280342016

14000000000000 sha-256 hashes = 3500 equihashes

Bitcoin Gold hashrate (rebalanced):
99817204000000000

Which finally lands Bitcoin Gold on 0.02455% of Bitcoin Cash in terms of security.

What I'm saying is, sure you need only 11% of BTCs hashrate to 51% attack BCH right now. However Bitcoin Gold does not even have half a percent of Bitcoin Cash's hashrate. Just because Gold was attacked it doesn't mean that Cash will be, you would need to consume 10 thousand more electricity to ATTEMPT a 51% attack on Bitcoin Cash.

Even if someone could provide that, at that point you'd make way more money to just spend the hashrate on mining BCH like normal. You'd get half the block rewards every single day.

That's exactly why I said Legacy Bitcoin instead of Bitcoin Core but you still managed to get upset...

anyway, some more quick math:

14000000000000 sha-256 hashes = 3500 equihashes

then:

Bitcoin Gold hashrate:
99817204000000000
Bitcoin Cash hashrate:
4065177780055339520
Bitcoin Legacy hashrate:
35373998549280342016

Which finally lands Bitcoin Gold on 0.02455% of Bitcoin Cash in terms of security.

If I could have just one guy promoting my crypto it would be Roger Ver. He has done so much for making Bitcoin what is is today. And now he is promoting Bitcoin Cash for exactly the same reasons. The guy hasn't changed one bit, he's a true believer.

BCH:
+ 128 transactions / sec
+ Non-reversible transactions allow for instant acceptance by merchants (0 conf)
+ Difficulty is adjusted every block
+ Scales on-chain
+ Still includes input scripts in the blockchain

BTC:
+ 4 transactions / sec
+ Transactions can be replaced to return your payment back to yourself
+ Difficulty is adjusted every 2016 blocks, adding risk of complete freeze if miners leave
+ Tries to scale off-chain but nobody knows how routing will work (Lightning Network). Will eventually need a backbone of hubs.
+ Removes input scripts to a separate chain that miners aren't rewarded for maintaining (SegWit).

Bitcoin (BCH) will indeed always be worth something, not so sure about the rest.

Since Bitcoin is no longer limited by Blockstream there's no reason for it not to expand functionality and make both Ethereum and Monero irrelevant.

Tether is a ticking time bomb and will collapse to 0 as soon as it becomes known that they do NOT actually have 1 USD for every 1 Tether. Just the fact that Americans aren't allowed to own Tether by their own terms of service should make it very obvious.

It's important to know that Tether has never actually proven that they have 2,517,971,662 USD.

i was being generous since BCH replaces BTC completely. however there's a lot of weight in the old ticker so it's not unreasonable to think its death will drag on, so it's not unlikely it will linger at 1k for a long time even though it's no longer in use

japanese law is that the company should pay back the yen value of assets at the time of bankruptcy. afterwards the remaining assets is split among the company owners (shareholders)

>>9566456
surplus of BTC goes to the company shareholders, they might sell it afterwards but it won't be sold for yen before they get the BTC

the MtGox president actually made a thread on reddit some time ago where he claimed he would try his best to return the BTC to everybody after he had gotten his final share. i'll believe it when i see it.
