A lot of people get annuity payments for life.
They key is to immediately get a lawyer after winning big, and they'll help you sort it out.
The problem with poor people is that they're already bad with money, so when they strike gold with the lottery, they squander it all in a year.
They end up buying a ton of mansions and sportscars, without regard for upkeep or maintenance.
They flaunt their wealth to friends and family, and become targets of robbery and vengeance.
A lot of them get hooked on drugs, too.
Personally, if I won the Billion jackpot, I'd instantly lawyer-up, take the annuity payments, invest most of it into a mutual fund, put a lot into a trust fund for my family, then retire at 40.
