Basically with Silver you are buying a extremely undervalued money (50% down from it's 1980 nominal high).
I think compared to silver could go in the future buying physical silver and holding it is really a great idea.

If a general collapse in confidence in the USD occurs, a widespread rush to gold and silver by the general populace and the paper silver market implodes I can imagine a ounce of silver being worth over $1000 USD and gold in the tens of thousands. Of course this is a real SHTF black swan scenairo, even if there was zero inflation and confidence in the USD didn't change at all Silver should still go up simply due to industrial demand to $100-200 USD.

It's all up in the air right now, there is no free market for silver so you can't rely on the price as a good tool for measuring the value of silver to a United States dollar.

All I know is that in french Argent means silver and it means money.

Gold is the central monetary metal whilst Silver is also a monetary metal but it has vast industrial uses. That basically makes all those other metals silver but without the monetary aspect whilst silver is gold on steroids.

Seriously if silver moons and it is so essential for industrial purposes won't that grind global industrial to a halt as Silver prices increase the cost of production for these tech companies and as a result they have to charge massively higher prices for Silver.

This would ultimately mean that for at least 20-50 years silver mining would be the most profitable sector on the entire planet.
