I've been to walmart about 3 times in the past couple years and there is definitely a smell of despair in there as well.
Gamestop is worse though for sure. I think part of that is because most people can remember a time, around a decade ago, where game stores were exciting places. I remember waiting for Halo 3 until midnight on release...

Alright I haven't been to a walmart in like 5 years
I feel like I should go there more often, it really is like reading the patch notes for low-class American life. I've been to out of touch with how the walmart shoppers of America are living.

Some of the interesting things I saw:
-> There is a machine when you are walking out, about twice the size of an ATM machine or a change machine, that you can sell back a cell phone too. I think it's crazy, how much money can they really be making off of that machine? How many people run out of money buying TP and food and tell the check-out person, "brb, gotta redeem my Samsung for cash"?
-> There are camera filming stations at some places in the aisles as an anti-theft deterrent, they show you your video to let you know you're being filmed.
-> couldn't find any Bubblicious gum, either in the candy aisle or at the registers. People are all chewing these boring sugarfree gums these days, they're everywhere.
-> I was impressed by the pricing of plastic bins, you can buy really nice big plastic bins for like $10 or less
basically walmart is wild haha.
