If you are buying individual REIT for high yields, consider the following ETFs
ETFs with similar yields to risky, small cap REIT are just a no brainer. They spread out risk and offer a more consistent source of income. Examples: (Data from TDA)
MORT: 8.13% yield
REM: +9% yield
KBWY: 8.62% yield
IVR:: 11.59%
Other examples of sustainable larger REITs with little to no debt and actually have a sustainable EPS to DPS are
NLY: 11.8%
MFA: 11.9%
I'm sick of Seeking Alpha articles by (((pros))) recommending microcap REITs with shit financials and mediocre yields to me. When you're company is triple leveraged with debt and you're still paying a dividend that's twice the amount you make per share, how is that a safe bet??

I think you're wrong, but also slightly correct
1) the corporate tax cuts wouldn't have happened, which wouldn't have caused that artificial pump
but
2) Hillary probably would have kept Yellen, so we wouldn't have had dramatic rate hikes
So there probably wouldn't have been a market pump, but also wouldn't be this crash
