You have to adapt to what the market is doing whether you think it's right or not. Some much money can be burned away on failed contrarian trades because you're stubborn and refuse to go with the flow. Speaking for myself, I trade much better if I form no specific opinion about what should or shouldn't happen. Or, at least consciously prevent whatever my opinion is from affecting my trading decisions. That's why I wound up doing mostly momentum trades in the first place. When I first started I traded almost entirely on fundamentals. I found it maddening. I've never been so irritable and angry as I was when I was trying to be a long hodler. You can scream and shout all day long about the market doing the opposite of what you think ought to happen but it won't change a thing.
