You know what I realised that tore me up quite a lot? If I just bought an ounce of gold every time I had the cash since the year 2000 I would be able to own a house outright by now with no debt and maybe even close to being able to retire. That's fucking crazy, all that time worrying about stocks and high interest bank accounts and yields and whatnot and I could have just done the simplest, bone headed thing and bought an ounce of shiny every now and then without worrying about its short term price movement. I could've bought something methodically and periodically with zero risk of ever going to zero and made out like a bandit in real terms.

I won't make that mistake again.
