I usually carry a shotgun or a rifle when i am on my own in the bush prospecting, rarely though do you see any open carrying on site at a mine in BC. Its rarely needed, even with crime increasing its a general rule of thumb not to try and rob miners as you will likely end up in an unknown hole. Bears arent to big of an issue in my parts, the black bears and grizzlies hear me coming and leave or do their own thing. Moose are more of a problem, their stupid year round, no one wants to be trampled by a cow moose.
