One thing you guys are already forgetting about is the pandemic price surges. At the time, there were logistical problems, supply chain issues due to a lot of sectors being understaffed and partially closed, that along with the stimulus printing made materials/raw goods more expensive for businesses... but people still paid.

The lesson they took away is that people will basically consume just as much even if you incrementally raise the prices like crazy; once they learned they could get away with it, they kept proceeding in this fashion full tilt. People are still consuming it like crazy so don't expect the price hikes to stop.

tl;dr - they're jacking up the prices because they can. Got away with it during the pandemic, now they will even though they don't need to because fuck you.
