gather money
put it into bank checking account
make coinbase account
learn the basics of how an exchange works
deposit money into coinbase, then transfer it to GDAX (same company, but gdax is an actual exhange)

now wait for the next big bitcoin crash.
once it arrives, use about 50% of your capital as the price is moving back up. dont worry about the bottom of the valley, which is called "trying to catch a falling knife". wait for confirmation of a rise, and just skip on the first 5-10% in case its a trick pull up before an even further crash downwards. routinely check youtubers/tradingview/twitter/reddit/here for an idea of when a confirmation might be occuring. youll learn the basics of technical analysis this way. you wont use TA much as a novice, but its nice to know in general to follow what the pros are saying about market sentiment.

once things settle down and people are neutral about bitcoin, start using the remainder of your capital to buy smaller chunks every few days or once a week. like 20-100+ each time depending on how much you have, maybe like 2.5%-5% each buy. this will dollar cost average your way in, mitigating your responsibility to find exact valleys, and having to avoid exact peaks. by doing this as the price is going more or less sideways you protect yourself.
once your capital is depleted, rinse repeat.

in a year or 2 you will be making more from capital gains passively than most human beings make in a year. in 5-10 years you will likely liquidate and retire, while keeping some left in crypto, and looking to invest in traditional stocks/bonds/etc as a less volatile return.
