Anon you'll pay much more than just $30k in taxes. There is a higher % of income you will pay in Blue states. In blue states you *will* work harder for less. Take it from someone who lived in NJ and now relocated to Texas.

The cultures are just different. I dont know how to describe it. You move to a blue state, unless you work in the government, you will just work harder, the environment is not friendly towards private enterprise. It's that simple.

Down here in Texas I get to work less, for more. People can actually get by with lower tier jobs. Up in NJ you could not live on your own unless you worked a high paying white collar job, or youd have to live out in the boonies somewhere.

Over here you can actually do what you want. I find an apartment in DFW easily for $700, and I pay much less in taxes. See how that works? You are forced into a certain track in Blue states, and you work more.
