Yes, basically. I also opened a Russian bank account and brokerage account. First I did it under my wife's name to keep it simple-as, but last summer 2019 I went in and opened my own Sberbank and FINAM accounts - come to find out they don't give a fuck about FATCA. For comparison, in Germany I couldn't even open a safety deposit box much less a bank account, as soon as I whipped out my US passport they turned me away.

So I have a US based dividend portfolio which got crushed by the COVID crash; now it yields like 3%... so I've switched to options selling, more like 20% annualized.

And I have a Russian based portfolio direct on the MOEX, which basically all russian securities yield like 7%-10%.

My income right now is US based. I work 6-months on, 6-off. For moving cash cross-borders I have the pathways all set up for crypto, but its actually easy enough to just withdraw ruble cash from the ATMs using my US based CCs and deposit it at the bank branch.
