>Expensive kitchen remodel
>New cabinets, quartz island, lighting, backsplash.
>Almost 30k
>Paid $18k up front, paid the remaining 12k upon completion
>Contractor never deposited the second check, sent me an invoice marked "Paid in full" with $0 remaining.
>10 months later the money remains in my account.

Does this happen a lot? It wasn't a small business or anything-- medium sized. Banking error? I assumed it was going to get found out either at monthly reconciliation or maybe at the end of the season. Still, nothing. Obviously i'm just going to keep the money in my account, but check should have expired at 180 days. Chance I never have to pay this? Statute of limitations is 6 years in my state.
