personally its a way for me to prepare for the bear w out having a huge drawdown and less chance of getting squeezed, which i fucking hate (not to mention while stonks have been sideways/bull, junk bonds have been bear since feb). plus the snap back from IV being almost nothing (like single digits) up to 30+ w long term puts having such huge vegas (i get 1 vega per %IV move) is a HUGE plus imo. because were not even talking about the deltas ill get if im right about the flash crash on the ETFs

buying
that way im short the ETF, but long the ETFs vol, as well as having a lower cost basis, and more lev than naked short. plus risk is capped at 100%
i hedge w "bullish" stuffs like short VIX and ITM calls on indexes when i see appropriate. but im a total small spec w a small account. im just trying to find a loophole desu. never heard of anyone doing this so at the very least its less crowded than most shorts
