Staking is a ponzi and there's nothing wrong with that. Getting in early means you gather fees from the late ones. If you're thinking about holding for long get in now.
The APY is still good as people will be staking more when this takes off.

To get technical the staking rewards follows a curve proportional to 1/x where x is what is added to the pool. This means getting in early will give you the biggest profit. Your accumulated reward follows ln(x) (integral of 1/x for those who have done calculus).
I made a model yesterday which looked at rewards from staking (not unstaking) and included dilution. It was quite interesting how this popped up and really obvious when I think about it now.

Getting in later means you join in at a later point at the red line giving less benefits per day as you'll start off more diluted.
