Eventually they'll reach a point where they simply cannot afford the interest payments anymore, at which point the margin call comes, and they get liq'd. Then the price shoots up when they're broker forces them to buy at whatever price they can, which causes other shorters to get liq'd too, which means they also need to buy back in to the market, which causes the price to shoot up even more, etc etc etc

Exactly this. NONE of these shills are talking about the fact that this all started because hedge funds like Melvin shorted it for more than the float, meaning shareholders can maintain diamond hands and force the shorters to buy at any price they want when the margin call comes.

And the thing is, all the other market makers on wallstreet know this sort of stuff happens. The reason they don't usually take advantage the way WSB did was because the whole thing is (((nepotistic))) and incestuous, and there's a gentleman's agreement between hedge funds and other whales not to fuck up each other's vulnerable over-leveraged positions. And they're furious because retail told them to fuck themselves and crossed their stupid picket line.
