We already have a report by Nintendo today, Smash sold 3 millions in the US alone in 11 days, it's about to dethrone Halo 3 or Reach as the best US launch (almost dethroned those weekly, most likely will monthly. Even if it doesn't, it's still in the Top 3). NPD numbers may show a bit less than that since it doens't track digital sales.

Last time I checked, Nintendo was a virtually 0 debt company with 8 or 9 Billion $ in cash in the bank (or rather, some of it in safe investments). Highly depend of the value of the JPY, of course, but still impressive.
