Seems to me the hull probably gave up the ghost and passengers are now goo. They were not doing scans to check integrity, the window was only rated to 1200m and, after multiple trips, may have finally failed. This is the less interesting outcome though. Most tragic would be the emergency ballast drop worked, they surfaced but, because they lost power, they couldn't communicate position and ran out of oxygen while crews were trying to find them.
