learn 2 technologies max that you're very interested in, to become a specialist in them. take a look at current trends if that's your thing, or just do what naturally gives you passion. could be React and Rust, or MongoDB and Kubernetes, whatever. demand for a specialist will always be high, even in technologies that are more obscure than others

build a few useful side projects that showcase your programming ability, so you have a github or project folder to point to during interview

start a tech blog, not posting any cringe feel good stuff, but just posting developments on new technologies that you love, and new updates in your projects

start networking with people in the area where you want to work, sf / la / nyc / whatever. there's lunchclub.ai and shapr.co for that. you can do it all remote
