As of December 2021, cumulative sales of Electric Cars in the U.S. totaled 2.32 million.

The government is saying there will be 6 Million Electric cars on the road by the start of 2023, and this number will also be critical to saving the environment

6 Million is literally impossible as we have had electric car production for over 5 years already with only 4 electric car makers. Tesla for example produced just over 930,400 vehicles in 2020 world wide.
Even if every car company like Tesla, VW, Toyota etc increased their electric car output by 10%, there is NO WAY to get to 6 Million Electric cars by 2023.
6 Million? the numbers just dont add up.
