It's to cover up some weakness in the balance sheet of one (or a few) financial institution(s).
I'm not going to tell you that the repo operation is a good thing: it isn't. It means that some bank(s) out there are losing money, but not as much as they would be if the repo op wasn't in effect.

It's just that most of the time that people are posting about it, they are 85% of the time using the verb "inject", which is just alarmist headline stuff. Inject inject inject, every time. When I think of inject I think of queens generating larvae, the repo operation isn't like that.

It doesn't have any noticeable effect on inflation. It's really just shifting numbers around in a spreadsheet overnight.
real inflation is when the numbers on the spreadsheet change...
