Calvin & CSW have hinted towards some use case that would fill 128MB blocks, but the latter has such a pathetic history of overpromising and underdelivering that I'd be sceptical, too.
Besides bigger blocks mean more expenses for Jihan, just before his IPO, no wonder he's opposed to 128MB blocks. He won't be a year from now if there's actually enough economic activity on the chain.

Nothing is certain yet, some OP-codes are going to be re-enabled for sure, which may be enough for a VM like Ethereum's to be built on top of BCH. Simpler smart contracts will become easy to create.
