> respect, if the sense of an earned reputation

The reason a lot of people experience periodic "midlife crises" or because their goals or values never change, so they live in the past. Most men die at 25 and are buried at 75.
Women are particularly susceptible to this because women investment so heavily into their physical appearance, which always fades. Stay good looking, but invest in intellectual, business, and sustainable athletic pursuits, not vanity.
