Also I know its against the rules but I have some rolling way out of the money long puts in Apple b/c SP500 substitute. I expect the big one sometime soon. I see death crosses in nearly every equity. The puts cost me like 50 bucks a month + fees so like $70. But I'm gonna call and get the dough rates monday, much sexier. I got foolish on aug 24 thinking it was going to fall forever and kept telling myself strong hands don't sell till 10k. and lost out $5k, which would have made my year. I'm maintaining the strategy though A lot of folks keep telling me to make it a spread, but that doesn't make too much sense to me. because of additional fees to make up for.
I know its a bit of a roullete play, but its about 1% per month , which hurts but only a little given my timeframe, and could pay out HUGE. Does this make sense? Is there an ideal way to roll long put strategies, for less?
Also it Seems like Tom can read tape, any lessons on that? Do you guys do secret technicals voodoo behind the scenes? All I really do is keep standard deviation channels on to watch for statistical extremes.
Also if Apple ceases to be the S+P surrogate where will the money move. Some moved into netflix last time do you think repeat?
