This you need to go to college meme needs to die. Most degrees aren’t useful and are waste of time and money. If you want to work in corporate America, pretend to do work while sitting behind a computer all day, get lectured about DEI by the toasties in HR, while being managed by diversity hire management, while the other diversity hires watch you do all of the actual work, you're going to need a degree. Any job that isn’t strictly manual or unskilled labor or selling cars for a living, is probably being done by illegals. Every decently good-paying requires actual skills that someone is willing to pay for. It’s the ticket for entry into middle class whether you agree with it or not. Unless you’re an entrepreneur, you are going to wage for Mr. Shecklergoldenbergenstien until the day you die. Which I don’t.

>Get assigned extra tasks because of job performance.
Of course this means various other people are simply not doing their job because you are doing it

What work is exactly being done? Everytime I see an office there are just people getting drinks and snacks, people staring at a computer screen sort of just zoning out, or playing ping pong or something. What work is actually being done? Most WFH fags are always bragging that they only do about 2 hours of real work a day.

Personally, I am enjoying watching the collapse of American business. WFH, diversity hires, ping pong and the break room. No actual work is getting done.

Can someone tell me what exactly to corporate wages actually do? I only ever see them sitting behind a computer sort of "zoning out" or in the break room getting snacks or playing some game. Can we just admit most corporate jobs are fat that needs to be trimmed?

Yes. I know we rarely talk business here, but business owner here. AMA.

Cash is generally a PITA for most business. Problems range from robbery, safe storage of cash, employee theft, and dumb ass wagies who can't count or do basic maff. Now, small owner operators can take advantage of cash. I always try to pay cash at mom and pop family businesses.

They kind of forgot to mention that Chris works off the books 25% of the time this doesn't pay tax. Chris is also either Union or independent contractor. Either way, his accountant has him down to paying less than 10% income tax.

Adam wages at the Shecklebergenstine mega fab and pays a solid 24% in income tax. Adam also has to pick up the slack for his diversity hire manager and the team of curry scented H1B's who can only perform the most basic grunt work. Basically, Adam is doing 3 jobs and the company is paying for one man. However, his wife, Zestimate Stacy, is banging Tyrone who she met in the garden section of Home Depot.

This. Covid and WFH proved that. Corporate offices are full of fat. Most need a 20% haircut.

/biz/, I could use your opinion on deciding whether to accept a job offer or wait for a more attractive one.

Job Offer:
-Wants answer in 24 hrs
-Salary is 4K below my desired salary
-1 hr+ commute to and from
-Industry is a niche market
-Manager isn't the nicest guy you've met

Prospective Offer:
-Salary is at desired value
-30 min commute
-Position is in a good industry
-3rd round interview scheduled next week with facility director.
-Informed manager of other offer, asking him to expedite process, he said he has one more candidate's interview this week before he can provide feedback on my odds, but "strongly encourages me to get an extension on my deadline until after the last candidates interview"

I'll take any advice or opinions
