If you do not have assets that cash flow, and your game is owning shares of a company that needs cheap debt to continuously expand and expand their balance sheet, or if you buy into ponzi schemes that are essentially equivalent with the exception of real ownership over anything, you are financing an intelligent (albeit morally bankrupt) person's retirement.

You can't seriously be this retarded. If you want dividends put all your money in an oil index like XLE but for God sakes keep working. The best safe dividend you can get is no more than 4.5%. Anything higher than that and the company has too high bankruptcy risk, many an investor has blindly bought into "le highest dividend stocks" and went broke. See: SDRL for just one example I remember clearly from /biz. Keep working, you need at least $400,000 in capital to retire from dividends alone. At least you are way ahead of the average person and that 27k will grow nicely @ 8-25% a year (remember to click reinvest dividends)
