I just opened a Questrade account (RRSP) and had a few questions. Is investing a couple hundred bucks at a time a bad strategy?

I was told trading fees amounted to $5-10 per trade, so if I invest $200 with a $10 fee, it will take 6 months just to break the commission charge if the ETF goes up 10% that year. Should I save the money and only be investing $1000+ at any given point? I will only be investing in Canadian bonds and Vanguard stock indexes.

Second question, if I invest in the Vanguard U.S. Total Market Index ETF (VUN.TO), will I be charged interest since this is a representation of the US stock market, and thus US dollars? I saw a post where something like this happened but did not fully understand.

Thanks in advance

Is it really worth investing a couple hundred bucks in indexes per month at a time if the fee is $7-$10 per transaction?

Is there a Canadian broker that doesn't charge an inactivity (with no minimum balance)? Questrade requires min 5k in investments to waive the no $25/quarterly inactivity fee

Sup familias. What brokers do you guys use?

I've been using TD waterhouse just for ease of funding my broker acct but I'm considering switching to something that doesn't charge me $10 a fucking trade or have a mediocre platform.

Thoughts of Questrade? Seems solid. Qtrade was a secondary consideration, interactive brokers is just for autistics.
