this is highly likely. they worked on a lot of *way* ahead of the curve stuff some years ago, but then got complacent and let a lot slide and degrade. sergey brin is back to regular hands on on campus right now and is getting some things steered back on course. the fruits at some point should be pretty seriously impactful. the primary headwind at this point is the potential for government kneecapping, which *may* even be paid for by MSFT who *may* even wind up buying GOOG someday (not within a decade) in the long game.
