Why do people form unions in publicly traded companies like Tesla or Amazon? What they should do is enter a conspiracy to form a new business entity that they are all owners in, like a cooperative. Once they’ve formed the entity, they should then announce their intention to leave. This must be public to avoid insider trading regulations, but still targeted to be not very visible. Before they actually do leave, the members of the new company bet against their current employer on the open market. Then, they all quit on the same day. The stock price tanks, and they take their profit and use it to approach the company for either a purchase of their assets, or they write up contracts to lease their assets to continue operations. Tesla would still own its factories and inventory, but it is so specialized to their operations that they’d be in a bad bargaining position. If they turn down the employee coup, they’d have to rehire possibly all of their workforce (if the other employees break for the coop) if not just the majority of it. The employees would have to sign new supply contracts and such, but the business could continue operating as it was with all the same employees, and nothing would actually be taken from Tesla, they’d simply be forced to sell or lease their assets to the new operators of Tesla 2, who have the benefit of keeping future profits.

This seems like a better deal than just forming a labor union that asks for bonuses and shit. You get the whole shebang.
